Welcome to TROUBLE....

Latest Update on the Boys:

February 2009 - It's snowing again.... We are so ready for spring!  Drew is walking around pretty well on his own.  When he is in a hurry though he'll start crawling again.  James is cruising all around the furniture and has taken a few steps on his own, but he's still more comfortable crawling around (which is fine!).  James' "words" are starting to sound a little more like actualy words - ball, duck.  When they are not talking, they are happy to sign - more, please, milk.  It's pretty cute!

December 2008 - Our little boys are a year old.... the year  has flown by.  Thankfully we have lots of pictures to remind us what has been going on this past year!  The boys got to celebrate their birthday with cake and cupcakes on two separate occasions, and they actually wanted nothing to do with the treats both times.  I'm not sure where these guys came from, but I like it!!

James got his first haircut this month.  We opted not to take him to the barber, and it shows....  hopefully it will grow out soon!  :)

We are looking forward to our first Christmas with the boys being home.  We put the tree up the other day and they are fascinated with all of the lights.

October 2008 - The boys are mobile!!  Drew is now pulling up to standing and is cruising all around the furniture.  James is still very hesitant to crawl on his tummy, but he's scooting around on his bum pretty easily.  James is very talkative though - lots of "daddies" and "mammas".

The 2008 JLEF Charity Golf Classic was a big hit again this year.  Our friends Ellen and Melissa brought the guys out so that they could see all of the golfers.  The weather was beautiful and it was a great day to honor Jim once again.

We went to a very fun Halloween party with all of the boys friends.  They were quite a hit in their Monkey and Duck costumes!

September 2008 - We are sad to see summer go, but are enjoying football season!  Drew is crawling all over the place (it's not pretty, but he's getting around), and James is still going backwards....  James is managing to talk about everything though.  Mostly about "diddy daddy" at this point.  They are starting to eat us out of house and home already, and it's showing.  At their 8 month check up James weighed 20 1/2 lbs and Drew was 21 1/2.

We had a great trip to Alabama.  Josie was adorable with the boys - she especially liked putting them in her pink palace of a bedroom.  We'll have to go back soon so the boys can meet their new cousin Aaron!

June 2008 - The boys are now 6 months old and time is flying by.  James weighs 17 lbs 10 oz and is 27 inches long.  He's in the 50th percentile across the board.  "Little" brother Drew is 18 lbs 6 oz and is 28 inches long.  He's in the 70th percentile for weight and 90th for height.  We're thinking of skipping pre-school and going straight to the NBA.

We started solid food this month.  Rice cereal was the first, followed by sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, and avocado.  So far the boys are great eaters (no surprise there.....) and love smooshing the food all over their faces (be sure to check out the pictures).

The boys are also sitting up on their own now.  They are still weeble wobbles, but they are getting there.  it's pretty cute when they use each other to balance.  I'm not so sure they think it's cute all the time, but it makes for some pretty good pictures.

We've also hit the road a few times.  We made a trip to Chesapeake to visit Grandma who proudly showed the boys off to 30 of her closest friends....  needless to say they were a big hit!  We took the boys to Carlisle, PA to see Andy's alma mater - Dickinson.  Stay tuned as we're off to Alabama soon to see Aunt Loree, Uncle Owen, and cousin Josie!

May 28, 2008 - VACATION!!!  We just got back yesterday from our first vacation with the boys.  We took them to Ft. Lauderdale and they were amazing!  As everyone told us, the anticipation of the flight was so much worse than the reality.  Both boys slept and ate really well on the way there and the way back.  It was interesting getting through security with 2 babies, a stroller, 2 diaper bags, a bunch of formula, and us - barefooted, but we made it.  It was really hot in Florida, so we didn't make it to the beach or pool too often, but we did manage to get their toes wet.  They fell right asleep on the beach and seemed to enjoy the pool.  We took a few drives and took the boys out to lunches and dinners.  All and all it was a great trip and I think that now we'll feel much more confident and comfortable traveling anywhere with the boys.

April 16, 2008 - The boys are gigantic!  They had their 4 month check up today and our little preemie boys are not so preemie anymore....  Drew weighs a whopping 15lbs and is in the 75th percentile for his height.  He has grown more than 9in since he was born.  James weighs in at 14lbs 5oz.  Both boys are in the 50th percentile for their weight.  The amazing thing is that this is for their actual age, not even their adjusted age.  The doctor said that they would basically be off the charts if we calculated it by their adjusted age of 2 months.  Everything is going really well and now that the weather is so nice, we're outside everyday.  Which makes everyone much happier!  :)  Oh, and James rolled over today!

March 26, 2008 - James is off of his apnea monitor!!  Our kids are now wireless.

March 13, 2008 - The boys had their three month check up today and they are HUGE!  James weighs 11lbs 9oz and Drew weighs 12lbs 4oz.  They are both in the 25th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for head circumference and height.  They are their daddy's sons!  :)  They got a few more shots today and they did really well.  Dr. Van Vleck was very impressed with how much they are growing and how they are doing with all of their milestones.  Now if we can just get James off of his apnea monitor.....

February 26, 2008
- We got great news today - Drew gets to come off of his apnea monitor.  For the first time in his (almost) 3 months, he's wire, electrode, and computer free!  It's really nice to be able to walk around the house with him and not have to worry about tripping over wires or carrying the monitor around.  Now we have no excuse for not taking the boys out more often!  :)   James will hopefully come off of his in a few weeks - I can't wait.  Otherwise the boys are doing great.  They are getting so big - James weighs 10lbs 3oz and Drew weighs 10lbs 15oz.  James is catching up!

January 29, 2008 - Today is the boys due date, so they are officially fully cooked!  They are doing incredibly well and are growing like weeds.  At last weight check (last week) James weighed 7lbs 4oz, and Drew weighed 8lbs 3oz.  It's funny how they are still remaining almost exactly 1lb apart.  Health wise they are doing great.  They have some acid reflux, but their dad is teaching them how to take antacids like a pro!  They will be two months old next week and its hard to believe that they have been home almost 4 weeks now.  Time flies!

January 2, 2008 - The boys are coming home!  They are scheduled to be discharged on Saturday, January 5th.  We are incredibly excited and terrified all at the same time....  :)  They are both eating really well and growing so fast.  James now weighs 5lbs 7oz and Drew weighs 6lbs 7oz - it's amazing how different they look already.  Their personalities are still coming out full force - James is still the feisty one and Drew is about as laid back as they come.  One of the nurses told us the other day that it was time for James to eat and apparently he was really hungry because he was sucking on Drew's head.  Drew wasn't even phased by it.....

December 22, 2007 - The boys are both doing really well after their two weeks in the NICU at Georgetown.  They are definitely the most popular kids on the block and we are very busy securing girlfriends and babysitters for them.

They are both gaining weight like champs.  James is up to 4lbs (birth weight was 3lbs 9oz, 16 inches  long) and Drew is up to 5 (birth weight was 4lbs 8 oz, 17 inches long).  James takes his bottles incredibly well and is up to 2 bottle feeds per shift now, which is a huge step!  Drew has a bit of reflux from his bladder into one of his kidneys.  The blood work indicates a good functioning kidney, so at this point he is just on antibiotics to prevent any infections.  He is learning to eat a little better too, Andy is the only one who is really good at getting him to take his whole bottle.  The talk around the NICU is that they will be going home in about 10 days - happy new year!
